The Sleeping Plot

Created for the 11th annual Rialto Channel 48Hours Furious Filmmaking competition with film making team Traces of Nut, The Sleeping Plot is the story of a young girl who decides to buy something that will help make everything better again.

But with her piggy bank empty she employs her own inventive methods of fund raising, in a black comedy shown through the 'innocent' eyes of a child. The Sleeping Plot was awarded top honours in the 48 hour competition against 800 other teams; winning Grand National Champion, Best Actress (Nova Waretini-Hewison), Canon Best Cinematography (Matty Warmington) and AUT best director (Dean Hewison).

The Sleeping Plot screened at the prestigious Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California and was nominated for best self-funded short film in the NZ Film Awards.
